Frist Center for the Visual Arts
Major rehabilitation of the 80-year old main post office located at corner of Ninth Avenue and Broadway in Nashville, Tennessee to become an art gallery. The entire structure had to be analyzed for modern codes, and major structural modifications were required for the new functions. Additions for loading docks, courtyards, and cafeteria space were also part of the project.

Renovation and preservation of a historic Nashville theater. The 91-year-old structure now has an entrance that is sleek and modern with floor-to-ceiling windows and a renovated lobby. A two-story addition of approximately 4,000 square feet. The restrooms and theatre are fully accessible and more comfortable theatre seating. A second floor has been added that includes a third screening room and education space.
Jack Daniel Distillery Barrel House 1-14
Recipient of 2017 AGC Build Tennessee Renovation Project Award.
"Barrel House 1-14 was originally constructed in 1938 and was the first barrel warehouse built by Jack Daniel’s following the end of prohibition. The renovation program included two, three-story high glass-wall tasting pavilions and a main atrium that will be used for dinners, receptions and other special events. From both the tasting pavilions and the atrium, guests will be able to view the massive original oak structural elements of the building, as well as barrels of aging whiskey stored on racks ranging three stories to the roof of the building. Although the outward appearance of the building is still as it was in the 1930’s – a sheet-metal warehouse – the interior has been brought up to modern standards." Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row
Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row is a four-story, 14,500-square-foot building with three stages, bar and restaurant located at lower Broadway at the northwest corner of Fourth and Broadway and just steps from the Ryman Auditorium.
231 Public Square
Overlooking Main Street and the Square in historic downtown Franklin is Franklin, Tennessee's first rooftop restaurant/bar, approximately 4,000 square feet of premium restaurant space that will accommodate events for up to 500 patrons. The building also has retail and Class-A office space. The exterior and interior renovation of the 1972 building adds 20 additional feet to the west side of the building. The renovation also adds to the Franklin area an additional 22,000 square feet of office space located on the second and third floors.
Ole Red - 300 Broadway
The renovated building of approximately 26,500 square feet is now home to Ryman Hospitality's Blake Shelton themed lower Broadway venue: restaurant/bar, retail, event space, and rooftop bar/terrace.
This project consisted of gutting two existing 1850's structures and constructing a new structural frame inside the remaining exterior walls. 208 Broadway consists of two stories, a basement, and a partially covered rooftop bar patio. 210 Broadway consists of three stories and a basement. The renovated combined space created a 6,000-square-foot entertainment complex.
The restaurant project consisted of an existing one-story building of approximately 2,000 square feet, and a one-story addition to the existing building of approximately 4,500 square feet.
Renovation of an existing pre-engineered building to have a new second floor. The renovation required moving, replacing, and reanalyizing the pre-engineered lateral bracing and gravity members to accommodate the new architectural design.
Martin's BBQ - Downtown Nashville
The project consisted of the renovation and addition to an existing building. The building was originally built with brick masonry load-bearing walls and wood-roof framing with an addition of a second-floor apartment consisting of a steel joist floor and concrete deck.
Nashville's downtown Martin's has three distinct areas: a full bar downstairs, private dining rooms on the second floor, and a large indoor/outdoor backyard beer garden with two bars.
Third and Broadway
Renovation of an existing building into a hotel and restaurant. The renovation includes the addition of two floors onto the existing four-story concrete structure and designing the new floor additions: 5th floor (12,288 sf) and 6th floor (11,337 sf). The total square footage of the project is approximately 81,000 square feet.
308 Chestnut Street
Renovation of a roof for an existing building. The renovation included raising the roof two feet and constructing a new roof with a clear-span bar joist structure. The bar joists bear on new beams supported by new second floor columns around the perimeter of the space, on top of existing steel beams.
225 Polk Avenue
2021 AIA Gulf States Design Honor Award. ULI Nashville 2020 Small Private Sector Award. EMC received the 2020 NAIOP Nashville Chapter Commercial Development of the Year award for this project. Finalist for the annual international Plan Award in the Interiors and Renovation categories, August 2020. AIA Tennessee Design Award of Excellence, September 2020.
The project was also featured in World Architecture News. This 44,000-square-foot landmark building was renovated from a civic library to a multi-tenant office space using the original concrete columns, shear walls, and pan-slab floor/ceiling structure.
Multibuilding rehab (keeping the vintage brick veneer) and conversion of structures to a 41-key, membership boutique hotel. The approximate 100,000-square-foot project includes a club/spa, restaurant/bar, gym, and work space. The approximate 35,000-square-foot exterior also received improvements and two new, freestanding, one-story structures with rooftop terraces, approximately 7,980 square feet.

Neuhoff district is a 14-acre campus along the Cumberland River. The former meat packing plant - an assortment of old pink buildings in the North Nashville neighborhood of East Germantown - was first built in 1906 and continued expanding until 1950. It closed in 1977.
In 2021, the renovation of the existing plant into a mixed-use property began. The existing 167,000-square-foot structure after renovation will have:
