Mr. Buchanan is a Principal of the Firm. From his broad based experience with design-build and investigative/forensic work, Mark is able to bring a keen sense of what is practical into his designs and investigations. He is experienced in producing documents that are highly constructible, and from this, he incorporates into design practical details for projects that both reduce cost and expedite construction once the documents reach the field.

Green Hills Lifestyle Center/Nashville, TN
A multi-use lifestyle center consisting of five buildings that include 162,000 square feet of retail space, 126,000 square feet of office space, and 200,000 square feet of parking. Buildings vary from one to six stories with the two parking structures consisting of two levels each.
Bellevue Plaza/Bellevue, TN
A new mall that replaced the older, outdated building. The new mall is a lifestyle center with multifamily housing, offices, entertainment, and retail with exterior entrances.
Hill Center at Nashville West/Nashville, TN
A new, two-story building consisting of office space on the upper level and retail space on the ground floor.
Fountains of Gateway/Murfreesboro, TN
Two new buildings that include a four-story, 100,000-square-foot office building as well as 11,000 square feet of retail space.
MTSU Student Union/Murfreesboro, TN
A new, three-story, 197,000-square-foot, concrete structure designed to house a student grille, ballroom and meeting space, a bookstore, video theater, student government areas, and administrative offices serving 20,000 students. This building also has multiple exterior balconies and has been designed for future energy saving systems such as solar panels.
Freshman Commons at Vanderbilt/Nashville, TN
A new freshman quadrangle that includes five dormitory buildings of six stories each, a four-story dining and commons building, and supporting powerhouse. Residential halls total 288,000 square feet, and the commons building total 116,000 square feet.

Mr. Borsos is a Principal of the Firm. As our Chief Structural Engineer, Dan is responsible for the application of structural engineering fundamentals within the Firm. He combines theoretical concepts with practical applications to produce efficient and innovative designs. Some of his specialties include seismic and high-wind design, renovation and re-purposing of existing and historic structures, and value engineering.

Vanderbilt University Student Recreation Center Expansion & Indoor Practice Facility/Nashville, TN
This project included an indoor, 100-yard football field, an indoor NCAA track complex, a new gym, and support spaces.
Ensworth High School Tennis Center/Nashville, TN
This project consisted of a 143,000-square-foot, four-level, post-tensioned, concrete structure with two levels of parking, six full-sized indoor tennis courts with a seating mezzanine, locker rooms and support spaces, along with a cantilevered outdoor seating mezzanine and press box for the adjacent soccer and track complex.
Ensworth High School Natatorium/Nashville, TN
Project included a new natatorium structure with an elevated Olympic-sized competition swimming pool and diving well, along with a smaller instructional pool. Locker rooms and support facilities for the football stadium were also included.
Meharry Medical College Turner Family Center/Nashville, TN
This building houses the registrar’s office, financial aid, student life, the Chaplin and chapel, a 600-seat grand ballroom, a lecture-style auditorium, a 50-seat executive board room, classrooms and meeting spaces, a 200-seat food court cafe, campus bookstore, space for conferences, meetings and educational seminars, and a visitors’ center. This is an echo-friendly, LEED-certified building.
Ten2 at Five Points/Nashville, TN
Restoration of a badly tornado-damaged building listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Work included repairing a partially demolished heavy-timber truss roof and replacement of destroyed tower and cupola.

A 58,000-square-foot structure that contains a gymnasium; natatorium; wellness area; multi-purpose rooms; and office space.
Kennesaw State University Soccer Complex & Boardwalk /Kennesaw, GA
The structural design for this project includes a multi-use building that is 11,150 square feet under roof, of which 7.700 square feet is enclosed building. The structural design also includes two boardwalks and a concrete retaining wall.
Fowler Park/Forsyth County GA
This is a recreation/sports complex that consists of a football/soccer complex, baseball complex, basketball courts, skate park, play lawn and picnic areas.
Clarksville WWTP/Clarksville, TN
A $22-million wastewater treatment plant expansion that involves new construction, as well as modifications to several elements of the existing plant including pump stations; filter press building; underground pits; stabilization equipment; tanks; and clarifiers.
Tractor Supply Company Retrofits/Nationwide
The conversion of over 20 existing Wal-Mart stores to new Tractor Supply Company stores. Modifications include new entry openings; loading docks and loading dock doors; and relocation of mezzanines at some locations.

Mr. Barham is a Principal of the firm. Jim has a diverse history of design experience that includes analysis and design for historic structural restorations/renovations, and multi-story structures framed with wood, steel, and concrete.
In addition to his regular design work, he also serves as production manager and Director of Engineering Software. EMC is able to efficiently design complicated structures because he provides and maintains the appropriate tools available in engineering software and production staff.

Conversion of a 65,000-square-foot, 16-story office building and a 34,000-square-foot, five-story adjacent historic office building into hotel space.
Courtyard-Residence Inn Hotel/Kansas City, MS
Hotels of approximately 190,000 square feet. The construction is new, ten-story, post-tensioned concrete with concrete walls.
Hilton Garden Inn Downtown/Nashville, TN
A ten-story, 152,000-square-foot hotel tower, plus a three-story, 59,000-square-foot parking garage. The hotel structure is a two-way, post-tensioned flat plate system. The garage is a clear-span, post-tensioned girder and one-way slab. The project also included an elevated pool and terrace deck overlooking downtown Nashville.
Hilton Garden Inn/Brentwood, TN
A four-story, 77,000-square-foot hotel. The structure is a conventionally reinforced concrete slab supported by load-bearing masonry walls.
Hilton Garden Inn-Homewood Suites/Charlotte, SC
A seven-story, 171,000-square-foot hotel with an adjacent parking deck. The hotel is a two-way, post-tensioned slab structure. The parking deck is a precast concrete structure.
Residence Inn Green Hills/Nashville, TN
This ten-story structure has the hotel (115 rooms/89,500 square feet) wrapping an eight-story parking deck (500 spaces/178,000 square feet) on two sides, retail space on the first floor, and office space with a terrace on the top floor. The structure is a post-tensioned, concrete beam and slab with concrete shear walls.
Hilton Hotel Green Hills/Nashville, TN
This structure is an 11-story tower with a partial basement below a 10-story hotel with 214 rooms/149,000 square feet. The hotel has a restaurant on the first floor, meeting rooms, a ballroom on the second floor, and terrace with a pool on the top floor. The structure is a two-way, post-tensioned slab structure. Transfer beams are utilized to create the open spaces needed for the ballroom and restaurant.

A new, 15-story, 285,000-square-foot, class-A office tower with a 940-space parking garage. The project included a green roof entertainment deck overlooking the Gulch and downtown Nashville. The structural system consists of moment frames with post-tensioned beams and slabs.
BNA Airport Terminal Garage C and Airport Administration Building/Nashville, TN
The project is a six-story, concrete-framed parking garage with approximately 3,000 spaces supporting a steel-framed office building of approximately 64,000 square feet.
Ovation East Office-Mars Petcare/Franklin, TN
The project includes the design of two new, class-A office buildings and a 1,320-space parking garage. An elevated connector is located at each building. The buildings are framed with composite steel. The parking deck is constructed with precast concrete components.
Vanderbilt University Residential College/Nashville, TN
Design of new residential college for Vanderbilt University. The project is separated into multiple phases and structures, including: E. Bronson Ingram College, Residential Colleges A, B, and C. The buildings are designed using conventional concrete slabs, post-tensioned beams, and structural steel roofs. Residential College A (Zeppos Hall) includes a 22-story, 310-foot signature tower.
Brentwood Police Department/Brentwood, TN
A new, two-story, steel building of approximately 56,000 square feet. This building accommodates the police departments, training, investigative labs, and operations as well as a 911 center. A public municipal courtroom (approximately 2,200 sf) is also located in the building.
Hillwood High School/Nashville, TN
A new, 260,000-square-foot building and approximately 30,000 square feet of renovations. Serrated brick facades and terraced academic levels open to courtyards and outdoor terraces.
Rockledge Flats/Nashville, TN
A new, wood-framed, four-story building of approximately 240,000 square feet.
Park at Hillside/Nashville, TN
A new, wood-framed, five-story apartment building (290 units) of approximately 300,000 square feet and a cast-in-place, post-tensioned, five-story parking garage (350 parking spaces) of approximately 105,000 square feet.
ODFL/Phoenix, AZ
A new, 103-door truck terminal of approximately 45,240 square feet, plus a one-story, 5,000-square-foot office. The dock was designed for a future 32-dock addition. The terminal construction is conventional steel-framed roof on load-bearing tilt-up wall panels.

Design of new residential college for Vanderbilt University. The project is separated into multiple phases and structures, including: E. Bronson Ingram College, Residential Colleges A, B, and C. The buildings are designed using conventional concrete slabs, post-tensioned beams, and structural steel roofs. The architectural expression is collegiate gothic. Residential College A includes a 22-story, 310-foot signature tower.

A new, 28-story, 430-room, 500,000-square-foot hotel with a large two-story ballroom on the first floor and a pool on the 27th floor. The structure consists of concrete shear walls and two-way, post-tensioned slab.

A new, 12-story boutique hotel addition and renovation of the Utopia Hotel. The structural design included post-tensioned, two-way flat plates with concrete shear walls.

Multiple structures located in Downtown Nashville: A new outdoor amphitheater with 60’-tall braced frames and 100’ long-span joists and trusses and complex sloped roofs. Six site buildings with load-bearing CMU walls and joists. A 100’ x 30’ steel canopy for a VIP pavilion.

A new 100-bed behavioral health hospital. The approximate 74,000-square-foot structure is steel framed with masonry shear walls. There is a three-story tower and a one-story rehabilitation/administration building.

A new, four-story, 165,000-square-foot library and archives building with climate-controlled storage and robotic retrieval system. The project also consists of office space, classrooms, meeting rooms, reading rooms, and one level of below-grade parking. The building structure is concrete framed with post-tensioned slabs and beams.

A new, eight-level office building and parking structure. The project consists of five levels and 120,000 square feet of office space above grade. There are three levels of below-grade parking. The building is concrete framed with post-tensioned slabs and beams.

Mr. Huntington is a registered professional engineer in the State of Tennessee. Evan began his professional career as a CADD designer in the pre-engineered metal building industry. He later worked as a detailer and project coordinator in both steel and precast concrete industries while pursuing his degree in civil engineering.

Royal Canin Lines 1 & 2/Lebanon, TN
This five-story, 10,000-square-foot addition to the Royal Canin manufacturing facility was a production line expansion within an existing concrete structure. A portion of the concrete double-tee roof was removed to accommodate a new concrete and steel structure. The new construction consisted of three elevated concrete slabs on concrete moment frames with an additional two levels of steel framing.
Rehabilitation Hospital of Forsyth County/Cumming, GA
This project is a single-story, 75,000-square-foot rehabilitation hospital with 50 in-patient rooms. The hospital consists of three separate wings; two of which were devoted patient wings and the other for administration. Each wing was constructed using steel braced frames and bar joists.
931 Jefferson Street/Nashville, TN
Metro Development and Housing Authority’s 931 Jefferson Street is a 54-unit apartment complex. It is a three-story wood structure on a concrete podium parking garage. The lowest level consists of steel frames supporting hollow core planks. Three upper levels consist of conventional wood framing.
Monte Vista Replacement School/Phoenix, AZ
This project consisted of four stand-alone, single-story school buildings totaling 72,600 square feet in Phoenix, AZ. The construction type was metal bar joist on masonry shear walls.
Silver Spring Library/Silver Springs, MD
Performed duties of delegated designer for the stair and handrail manufacturer for this project. The project consisted of four separate multi-floor, ornamental stairs with guards and landing surfaces. One of the four stairs was a two-story stair, approximately 70 feet long following a 62-foot radius with multiple landings suspended from the third-floor framing.

Mr. Albritton is a registered engineer-in-training in the State of Tennessee. Jack recently graduated from the University of Alabama with focuses in structural steel building design, Revit drafting, prefabrication research, and business administration.

A three-story, 30,000-square-foot publishing house with office and retail space; constructed with structural steel and bar joists.
Lindsey’s Corner/Nashville, TN
A two-level, 300-car, post-tension concrete parking garage with a four-story medical office building and a three-story retail building above the garage. Buildings above are constructed using post-tension girders with post-tension junior beams. This floor construction creates vast flexibility for future tenants who may need to reconfigure mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure.

Mr. Hollman graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a focus in structural engineering and is a registered engineer-in-training in the State of Tennessee. Russell’s background includes analysis and design of buildings, particularly in high-wind regions.

Mr. Brownfield is a registered engineer-in-training in the State of Tennessee. Brad graduated from the United States Military Academy and holds a graduate degree in structural engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to joining EMC, Brad served in the U.S. Army as an Infantry Officer and led soldiers through deployments to Afghanistan and Korea. Brad’s engineering background focuses on the design of high rise structures.
