Abe's Garden2020 Featured in World Alzheimer Report by Alzheimer's Disease International Original project (Manuel Zeitlin): Addition to an existing retirement home. Construction consists of one level of two-way, flat-plate, and load-bearing metal stud shear walls on a podium slab. 2018 Addition (ESa): New, three-story building addition of approximately 60,000 square feet to the existing Park Manor/Abe's Garden structure. The structure is two-way, post-tensioned slabs with concrete shear walls. The addition is structurally separated from the existing structure by expansion joints. -
DUBE Orthopedics and Physical Therapy2024 AIA Middle Tennessee Design Honor Award A new, four-story, 30,000-square-foot medical facility. The primary form of the building is set in a cradle of glass suspended on pilotis. The construction is simple steel frame and concrete-filled metal deck with a rear cantilever component suspended from a trussed frame at the upper level. A sculpted exterior form has been designed to create opportunities for outdoor terraces on each level. One of the main features of the building, in addition to a glass elevator, is a large cantilevered porte cochere that works with the cradle structure to support the building’s main body.
